Active meditation
There are two types of meditation, the familiar one where you put aside a time to practice what you have been taught and repeat it on a regular basis usually on your own with your eyes shut.
Active meditation is a technique which you can use at any time while you are, as it says, active. I have seen a good number of versions which appeared to make little difference and could take ages to make changes if they do, until Eckhart Tolle, who now has all his teaching on Youtube, filled the gap for me for what I believe (from personal testing) to be the only way you need.
All you need to do is see what is watching your thoughts. Once you realise you can watch your thoughts then you realise everything you are aware of is not you, but the awareness itself which is silent and clear of thoughts, and you can switch into it and remain there instantly.
