What is a prophet?

 I was always under the impression a prophet saw the future, which I don't personally either believe in or agree with. However on further investigation this is wrong, a prophet is simply anyone passing on messages from a higher level or God directly. That means we have many prophets around us, whether they only do it once, consistently or even have no awareness they are doing it.

The second mistake is to assume you have to be enlightened to be a prophet. The two things are not connected except that some enlightened people become prophets as a result, but often you are one or the other. Many enlightened teachers, including some I know, have no contact outside their own awareness, and don't even believe it exists. However, many can provide constant material clearly impossible to have learnt through their own experience, and you can judge them by their results.

The only real difference between prophets is their delivery and the level of their material. Not all prophets are equal, quite the reverse. You can easily tell the difference simply by comparing a few. However, even when the presentation is diabolical, normally hiding the message in pages of waffle or confusing technical stuff, this is the existing personality getting in the way, and ruining a very good message in a cloud of words. You may get some who give very clear messages but know very little, but these are better, as if what they do tell you is correct then it is easy to absorb and apply by anyone.

It is very hard to learn spiritual fields without prophets to guide you. And if you read or listen to enough material the higher quality should stand out. And as Jesus said quite rightly, what I do so can you and more. Therefore rather than talk down to you a true prophet shows you how to become like them. This in turn means many of you could be prophets, as I explained before, spirit usually talks to us in our own voices and apparently our own thoughts, except they usually come when we have run out of answers and leave a gap and the thought just comes to us. If it does you have just taken your first step as a prophet. It's not an exclusive club, it's something we can all do, and if you feel you have an element of it then practice doing it consciously, search, ask questions, look for answers, and then ask other people to ask you questions and wait for the answers to come to you, much like doing a psychic reading. You'll soon know if you get in the flow, and then you start letting it happen naturally.
